Avon and Somerset Police & Crime Commissioner Community Action Fund

This annual £200,000 grant is funded by the Police and Crime Commissioner for Avon and Somerset in order to enable communities to come together and tackle issues in their local area relating to the priorities set out in the Police and Crime Plan.

These priorities are to
·         Reduce the impact that anti-social behaviour has in our communities
·         Tackle domestic and sexual violence, particularly violence towards women and children
·         Prevent and reduce burglary and fear of burglary in your area
·         Ensure victims are at the heart of the criminal justice system
·         Grants will be awarded with the aspiration of equitable coverage across the force area
·         Bids must evidence value for money and be realistic and deliverable with any financial dependencies clearly identified
·         Supporting comments from your local police team or other organisations are welcomed

BBC Children in Need - Main Grants

The BBC Children in Need Main Grants programme is open to charities and not-for-profit organisations applying for grants over £10,000 per year for up to three years.

The grants are for organisations working to combat children and young people of 18 years and under experiencing disadvantage through:
·         illness, distress, abuse or neglect,
·         Any kind of disability,
·         Behavioural or psychological difficulties
·         Living in poverty or situations of deprivation

Biffa Award – the Biffa Award

In 1997 Biffa Waste Services agreed to donate landfill tax credits to the Royal Society for Wildlife Trusts (RSWT) and offer a small grants and main grants scheme. Small grants are available to support community-led organisations who aim to improve the quality of life in their community.

The Biff Award Small Grants Scheme has been established to enable groups to access lower levels of funding for projects which have the primary aim of improving an amenity located within ten miles of a Biffa Operation, and which will improve the environmental, economic or social situation of a community.

Projects should make a difference to a local facility, such as a community building, nature reserve, cultural facility or outdoor space.

McDonald’s Kickstart Grants

McDonald's has opened a new application round for its KickStart funding scheme.  The Kickstart Grants are available to community football clubs in the UK to help support, grow or develop their players and the community.

Pople Charitable Trust Grant

The Pople Charitable Trust offers grants to charitable organisations active in Bristol, Somerset and Gloucestershire.  Funding is intended to support organisations undertaking projects in the fields of education, youth work and assisting the elderly.  Eligible organisations must be charitable and operating in Bristol, Gloucestershire or Somerset.

Quartet Community Foundation for the West of England

The Quartet Community Foundation grants are awarded to support work where there is clear evidence of a sustained beneficial impact on the lives of people who are excluded or disadvantaged through low income, rural or social isolation, age, disabilities, race, sexuality or gender.

Speak Up Film Fund 2013

Grants are available for not-for-profit organisations in the UK to assist with making a film that focuses on local community issues in 2013.

The Community Film Unit is a social enterprise film company. Through its Speak Up Film Fund, it offers 50% match funding towards the cost of making a film.  The Speak Up Film Fund 2013 is open to application from not-for-profit organisations in the UK which need funding support to help make a film about one (or more) of the following:
·         Supporting young people and/or vulnerable people.
·         Preserving local history and educating residents about their area.
·         Providing and documenting opportunities for disabled people.
·         Providing information which improves the quality of life for residents in their local community.

Sport England - Small Grants Programme

Financial assistance is available to help not-for-profit sports clubs, local authorities and schools in England to carry out local community sports projects.

Grants are awarded for costs associated with eligible sporting activities, for example:
·         Purchasing new kit or equipment.
·         Coaching fees.
·         Helping youth groups to work together with local sports clubs.

Strategic Touring Programme

The focus of the programme is for people across England to have improved access to great art visiting their local area, particularly in places that rely on touring for much of their arts provision.

Arts Council England aims to encourage:
·         All of those involved in touring to play an active role in ensuring that high quality art successfully reaches more people and places across England.
·         A positive change in collaborative behaviour between all of those involved in creating and programming work which tours.
·         More effective touring, programming and audience development of high quality work on tour including, in particular, work by and for children and young people, and work by and for people from diverse backgrounds.
·         Promoters, and the communities they serve, given opportunities to influence the kinds of art created to tour, from the beginning of the artistic process.
·         More promoters improving their knowledge and skills in creative commissioning, programming and audience development.
·         Those creating and managing work on tour demonstrating how they have placed the people and venues they tour to at the centre of their work.
·         More people involved in creating and managing work on tour improving their knowledge and skills in touring and audience development.

The Coastal Communities Fund (CCF)

The Coastal Communities Fund is to encourage the economic development of UK coastal communities by giving them funding to create sustainable economic growth and jobs. The Big Lottery Fund is delivering the CCF on behalf of Government, operating under the name Big Fund with £27.8m available this year.

Last year applications that demonstrated the following were prioritised:
·         Clear outputs which can be evidenced
·         Creation of jobs (particularly direct and indirect jobs within the project timescale)
·         Ability to deliver outcomes within the project timescale
·         Sustainability of activity and longer term impact.

The Co-operative Membership Community Fund

The Co-operative Membership Community Fund is a grant scheme to help local communities throughout the UK.

Community groups, voluntary groups, self-help groups, community charities and local branches of national charities are eligible to apply to The Co-operative Membership Community Fund.
Grants can be used to fund anything from equipment to event costs, rent or fixtures and fittings, sport or computer equipment.

The People’s Millions

Support for community based projects in the UK that provide opportunities for people to enjoy their local area.

Priority will be given to projects that:
·         Improve the lives of people in the community.
·         Inspire local people to get involved.

Young Roots

Funding is available to support projects in the UK that encourage young people aged 11 to 25 years to take part in activities exploring heritage.

The HLF defines heritage as being many different objects and places that have been, and can be, passed on from one generation to another.  Among these are:
·         People's memories and experiences (often recorded as 'oral' or spoken history).
·         Histories of people and communities (including people who have migrated to the UK).
·         Languages and dialects.
·         Cultural traditions such as stories, festivals, crafts, music, dance and costumes.
