The aim of the Trust is to award grants to UK registered charities through various project areas: children and youth, music and the arts, elderly, medical and community.

The BBC Children in Need Main Grants programme is open to charities and not-for-profit organisations applying for grants over £10,000 per year for up to three years.

Grant Available: From £10,000

The grants are for organisations working to combat children and young people of 18 years and under experiencing disadvantage through:
·         illness, distress, abuse or neglect,
·         Any kind of disability,
·         Behavioural or psychological difficulties
·         Living in poverty or situations of deprivation

Funding to help community groups to use both the Community Right to Bid which comes into force in the autumn, and the existing Community Asset Transfer powers to buy and manage local community assets such as village shops, pubs, community centres, heritage buildings, allotments and libraries.

Dulux is offering the paint needed to transform community spaces for free. Selected projects will also receive additional support from Dulux's partner Groundwork.  The following types of projects are eligible for Let's Colour Projects: Housing estates, school frontages, community gardens, urban green spaces, play projects including natural play, streetscape/town squares/town centres, sea front improvements, community art projects e.g. murals/colour art forms, community building e.g. youth centres, community centres, scout huts etc, skate boarding/ BMX tracks, internal building projects.

Grants are available to voluntary and community groups in the UK to help run summer play schemes for the benefit of disadvantaged children.

Grants Available: £500 to £1,500

Trustees are looking for:
  • Projects for children aged 5 to 18 years
  • Locally based schemes lasting from 2 to 6 weeks
  • Schemes with strong volunteer support
  • Applications are accepted from voluntary agencies with an income of less than £150,000.
  • Trustees will accept applications from across the UK.

The awards recognise and celebrate the success, best practice, innovative ideas and outstanding achievements of small and medium-sized businesses, including a cash prize for category winners.

Award Available: £2,000 cash, 50,000 nectar points and national media publicity.

Grants are available for not-for-profit organisations in the UK to assist with making a film that focuses on local community issues in 2013.

Grant Available: £720 to £2,200

The Community Film Unit is a social enterprise film company. Through its Speak Up Film Fund, it offers 50% match funding towards the cost of making a film.  The Speak Up Film Fund 2013 is open to application from not-for-profit organisations in the UK which need funding support to help make a film about one (or more) of the following:
  • Supporting young people and/or vulnerable people.
  • Preserving local history and educating residents about their area.
  • Providing and documenting opportunities for disabled people.
  • Providing information which improves the quality of life for residents in their local community.

Grants to encourage and support organisations in the UK which increase access to swimming and provide activities aimed at helping individuals and communities enjoy the benefits of swimming throughout their lives.

Grants Available: £300 to £2,500

Applicants must be able to demonstrate how funding will allow them to do one of the following:
  • Introduce people to swimming who would otherwise not swim.
  • Increase the frequency that existing swimmers go to the pool.
  • Improve the swimming experience for new or existing swimmers.

The Foundation provides grant funding in the UK in support of a wide range of charitable projects including the areas of: Community; Arts; Health; Social Welfare; Environment; and Amateur Sports.

Grants Available:
  • Small – up to and including £5,000.
  • Medium – £5,001 to £25,000.
  • Large – over £25,000.

Applications are welcomed from registered charities and registered Community Amateur Sports Clubs (CASC) in the UK.

The Coastal Communities Fund is to encourage the economic development of UK coastal communities by giving them funding to create sustainable economic growth and jobs. The Big Lottery Fund is delivering the CCF on behalf of Government, operating under the name Big Fund.

Grant Available: Over £50,000

Last year applications that demonstrated the following were prioritised:
  • Clear outputs which can be evidenced
  • Creation of jobs (particularly direct and indirect jobs within the project timescale)
  • Ability to deliver outcomes within the project timescale
  • Sustainability of activity and longer term impact.
