Avon and Somerset Police & Crime Commissioner Community Action Fund

This annual £200,000 grant is funded by the Police and Crime Commissioner for Avon and Somerset in order to enable communities to come together and tackle issues in their local area relating to the priorities set out in the Police and Crime Plan.

These priorities are to
·         Reduce the impact that anti-social behaviour has in our communities
·         Tackle domestic and sexual violence, particularly violence towards women and children
·         Prevent and reduce burglary and fear of burglary in your area
·         Ensure victims are at the heart of the criminal justice system
·         Grants will be awarded with the aspiration of equitable coverage across the force area
·         Bids must evidence value for money and be realistic and deliverable with any financial dependencies clearly identified
·         Supporting comments from your local police team or other organisations are welcomed

Cash 4 Clubs

Financial assistance is available for sports clubs throughout the UK to improve facilities, buy new kit and equipment, and increase sporting opportunities.  Cash 4 Clubs is a charitable fund provided by Internet gambling company Betfair in partnership with SportsAid.

  • Grants are available for local sports clubs across the UK to provide additional opportunities for sporting activities, for example through the purchase of new equipment, improving facilities or providing training for coaches.
  • Funding is available for both mainstream and minority sporting activities, providing that the sports club plays an active role in their local community.
  • The fund is open to applications from any sports club in the UK as long as they are registered with their National Governing Body or local authority.
  • No preference is given to the type of sport involved or the ages of people who will benefit from the project, but priority will be given to clubs that play an active role in their local community.

Comic Relief Local Communities Grants Programme - West of England

Grants for sports projects and community projects in Bristol, South Gloucestershire, North Somerset, Bath and North East Somerset that empower local people and enable them to create lasting change in their communities

  • The Comic Relief scheme is provided by Comic Relief and administered locally by the Quartet Community Foundation.
  • There are still many communities in the UK that suffer from economic and social deprivation and the current economic climate may make this situation worse. This programme aims to empower local people, enabling them to create lasting change in their communities.

Golsoncott Foundation

The Golsoncott Foundation aims to promote, maintain, improve and advance the education of the UK public in the arts generally and, in particular, the fine arts and music. The Golsoncott Foundation Grant is provided and administered by the Golsoncott Foundation and is for voluntary sector organisations in the UK.

The scheme is intended to support projects that promote fine arts and music.
The scheme aims to improve public education through the arts.
In particular, the programme wishes to fund projects for young people and initiatives that attract new audiences.

Applications from individuals and students seeking funding for academic or vocational courses are not admitted, though applications from organisations for bursaries are. Capital appeals from museums, galleries, theatres, arts complexes and schools are not encouraged.

MTV Staying Alive Foundation

Funding is available to support youth led initiatives across the world that work to prevent the spread of HIV. The Fund also provides Staying Alive materials (including programming and teaching kits), a small fund to buy technical media equipment, a local mentor, a personal grant manager, training and development.

  • Organisations that are led by young people between the ages of 15 and 27 that work in HIV prevention are eligible to apply.
  • The Foundation is interested in organisations that are start-ups and do not have much support, financial or otherwise. Priority will be given to organisations that have little or no existing funding to date, rather than those with several funders on board.
  • All grant applicants must demonstrate credibility through independent references, government accreditation, and verifiable banking and accounting systems.

Rowing Foundation

Andrew Lloyd Webber Foundation

The objects of The Andrew Lloyd Webber Foundation are to promote the arts, culture and heritage for the public benefit. BBC Children in Need – Small Grants and Main Grants

The BBC Children in Need Small and Main Grants programmes are open to charities and not-for-profit organisations applying for grants over £10,000 per year for up to three years.

The grants are for organisations working to combat children and young people of 18 years and under experiencing disadvantage through:
·         illness, distress, abuse or neglect,
·         Any kind of disability,
·         Behavioural or psychological difficulties
·         Living in poverty or situations of deprivation

Esme Fairbairn Foundation

The Foundation aims to improve the quality of life for people throughout the UK by supporting work that focuses on the arts, education and learning, the environment, and social change.

The Esmee Fairbairn Foundation aims to award a total of £25m every year via its main fund and other funding strands for specific causes it supports.

Priority is given to projects that address significant gaps in provision and seek to improve UK culture, the national environment and/or education and learning. The Foundation is also interested in supporting projects that help disadvantaged people involved themselves more in society.

Voluntary organisations and registered charities whose projects will change communities for the better are invited to apply.

Foyle Foundation Small Grants Programme

The Foyle Foundation's - Small Grants Scheme is looking to help small charities operating in the areas of the arts and learning, with an annual turnover of less than £100,000 per year.

The Foyle Foundation is one of the largest grant making trusts in the UK providing grants that help to make the arts more accessible by developing new audiences, supporting tours, festivals and arts educational projects; encouraging new work and supporting young and emerging artists; and that address special educational needs and learning difficulties.

Larger organisations can apply for funding through the Foyle Foundations
Arts and Learning Main Grants Programmes.

Leonard Laity Stoate Charitable Trust

The Trust gives grants for projects in England and Wales (but with a clear preference for South West England) in the following areas: medical and disablement; youth and children; Methodism; the community; disadvantage; non-Methodist churches; the environment; and the arts.

  • Small innovatory projects with a good measure of self-help or voluntary input are preferred.
  • Applicants must demonstrate what other sources of funding have been sought and secured.
  • A grant will not normally be paid until all other funds needed for a project have been raised and the project started.
  • The fund can grant from £100 to £2,000 and is open to applications

North Somerset Council Healthy Lifestyles Grant


The healthy lifestyles grant aim to support activities for children and young people up to the age of 25.
So whether it is running a dance workshop, providing an outdoor sports activity or running a team building activity then a grant may be available.

The deadline for applications is 5pm on Friday, 26 July and projects should look to encourage health equality and healthy lifestyles by supporting positive activity opportunities in communities across North Somerset.

Quartet Community Foundation – Express Grants Programme

The Express Programme awards grants of up to £2,000 to small local voluntary and community organisations where a small amount of funding can make a difference in disadvantaged areas. The work of your organisation must benefit people who are disadvantaged or isolated. People may be isolated due to poverty, disability, age, location or culture. Priority is also given to groups that:

  • Enable people to take opportunities that would otherwise not be available to them.

The Co-operative Membership Community Fund

STREETFEST ON THE PIER

There will be a mini Streetfest this weekend on The Pier.
 
There will be local Crews, Schools, acts as well as acts from TV. We have dance groups from Portishead Youth Club, Barnados, Worle School, Mendip Green school and St Martins as well as private dance schools, the star of the Show will be 2013 Britain's got Talent Finalist  Poppin Ron who has been part of the Streetfest Crew for 3 years.

Youth Music the UK's largest children's music charity, has announced that its grant making programme is currently closed but will re-open for applications in July 2013. 

  • Through its funding programme, Youth Music makes grants of up to £250,000 to support projects that provide music-making activities for children and young people, especially those young people in challenging circumstances.
  • Youth Music will fund non profit-making organisations committed to music-making activities for children and young people up to 18 (or up to 25 if they have special educational needs, disabilities or are in detention).
  • Youth Music aims to support music making activities principally in out of school hours such as during weekends, holidays as well as in breakfast and after schools clubs.
  •  Youth Music understands that programmes may need to begin in school hours especially if the proposal involves encouraging first time participation in music.
  • To help with this, Youth Music will consider applications for programmes where up to 25% of the time is spent in school hours. The proposed programme should aim to encourage children and young people to eventually make music outside of school hours.

The Mental Health charity, Time to Change has announced that its grants programme will re-open for applications on the 17th July 2013.

·         Through the programme, grants of up to £100,000 are available to constituted not for profit organisations for projects that bring people with and without mental health problems together to challenge discrimination in their communities. 

Time to Change plan to fund approximately 75 projects between 2012 and 2015.  

Previous projects supported include:
  • Refugee Radio which received a grant to enable 10 refugees and asylum seekers with mental health problems to put on events for the wider refugee community;
  • and “abandofbrother” which received funding to enable 12 men with experience of mental health problems, from different London communities, to take part in workshops where they will talk about mental health and discrimination.
  • 25% of the fund is for projects run by and for people from Black and Minority Ethnic communities and 20% is for projects that work with an audience of children and young people, in specific regions.

Mountain Warehouse Outdoor Challenge

Outdoor retailer Mountain Warehouse is offering a prize of £5,000 to charity for the individual who wins their Outdoor Challenge this year.

To enter the competition individuals have to be taking part in an outdoor challenge during 2013. This could be a sponsored walk, run, cycle, expedition or similar endeavour.

They are invited to share their story, which will be displayed on the Mountain Warehouse website, and the public will then vote for the winner.

Mark Neale, founder of Mountain Warehouse, said: "We are inundated with sponsorship requests and stories about people attempting these fantastic expeditions and challenges to raise money for charity. We wanted the opportunity to share their stories, get the public involved and give something back to these very worthwhile causes."

As well as offering a £5,000 prize to one charity, Mountain Warehouse is giving all entrants 20% off their next purchase at Mountain Warehouse, to help them prepare for their challenge.

The company has also teamed up with online fundraising platform JustGiving to promote the Charity Challenge to their network of individual fundraisers.
