Is your network interested in supporting an IT / computer project?

We have come across this amazing opportunity from UK Youth. More information can be found here however below is a taster of whats on offer. If you are a network who need an online directory or community space while skilling up young people, this project could be the answer.

Microsoft Youth Hub programme

Building on the success of the first year of Microsoft Youth Hub IT Project - UK Youth's objective is to create a further 35 Youth IT Hubs in 2014.

All 35 Hubs (Youth Project's) will empower and train young people to become peer educators in digital literacy, offer opportunities for young people to develop their skills in digital literacy, inform young people of the continuing changes in technology and inspire young people to seek a career in technology.

Be a component in the project!!!

UK Youth & Microsoft are offering 35 youth projects across the country the chance to become part of the Microsoft Youth Hubs network. Each Microsoft Youth Hub will have access to equipment, knowledge and resources which will enable them to run a peer education programme, ensuring a wider group of young people have improved IT knowledge, access and other skills relevant to the digital workplace.

As a Microsoft Youth Hub you will receive:
  • Funding of up to £2950 for Hub creation and delivery of the Hub project*
  • Subsidised software packages for organisations registered as a charity
  • High quality peer education and IT training for 3 young people (IT Champions) delivered by  UK Youth and Microsoft
  • Accreditation and Awards training for youth hub workers
  • UK Youth support for the duration of the project
  • A Microsoft mentor who will who will provide guidance and support to the Hub
*Level of funding will be assessed on an individual Hub basis following consultation with UK Youth and Microsoft

A Microsoft Youth Hub will be asked to:

  • Create a Hub (a small but dedicated space at the club) available to young people for a 25 week period for at least 6 hours per week (between 1st January and 31st July 2014). We are keen that a minimum of 2 of the 6hrs are over and above current provision
