True Colours Trust

The Trustees are committed to supporting a large number of excellent organisations and projects that work with disabled children and their families on a daily basis.  This is done through the Trust’s small grants programme, which provides grants of up to £10,000.  The grants are usually one-off contributions rather than multi-year grants for ongoing revenue costs and are open for applications at any time. The Trustees are particularly keen to support
  • Hydrotherapy pools
  • Multi-sensory rooms
  • Mini buses
  • Young carer’s projects
  • Bereavement support
  • Specialised play equipment
Please note the following:

  • The programme is for UK organisations and projects only
  • The programme is unable to provide support to Local Authorities
  • Applications will only be considered once every 12 months
Upon submission of your application, you will receive an acknowledgement letter or email.  If you do not hear from us within twelve weeks of the date of this acknowledgement, please accept that the Trustees, with regret, have not been able to make a grant in response to your appeal.  You will not receive a letter explaining that your application has been unsuccessful.

Applications for small grants should be made using our online application form or alternatively you may complete the downloadable version of the form and either return to us by post or email.

BBC Children in Need Small Grants

Our Small Grants programme is open to charities and not-for-profit organisations applying for any amount up to and including £10,000 for one year.  We give grants for children and young people of 18 years and under experiencing disadvantage through
  • illness, distress, abuse or neglect
  • any kind of disability
  • behaviour or psychological difficulties
  • living in poverty or situations of deprivation
We fund organisations working to combat this disadvantage and to make a real difference to children and young people’s lives.

In our Small Grants programme we are looking for projects where a relatively small amount of money can make a big difference for children and young people.  We are unlikely to fund applications which top up funding for salaries or larger projects where a small grant would only make a marginal impact on its success.

If your organisation currently has a grant from us, you can apply for further funding providing your current grant is coming to an end within the next 12 months.  You will need to be able to provide convincing evidence of the differences our grant has made to the lives of the disadvantaged children and young people you have worked with.

How to apply:

1.    Plan your project carefully. You may find our guide to Planning Your Project useful before you complete your application. Poor planning is a common reason why applications are not successful.
2.    Read our A to Z Guidance to help make sure you only apply for things that we can fund.
3.    Use our online application system to complete an application form and submit additional information.
·         All organisation must include a copy of their most up-to-date financial information (normally accounts).
·         Please refer to our FAQs for advice on what other information you might need to provide.

The People’s Health Trust – Active Communities

Active Communities is for local people with great ideas about how to help create fairer places to grow, live, work and age well.  We’re looking for people with great ideas which will create stronger connections between people and help make their local neighbourhoods even better.

To apply, you need to have a great idea, designed and led by local people, which will:
  • take place within a small area for a small group of people
  • run for between 9 months and 2 years
  • need investment of between £5,000 and £25,000 per year
  • take place in one of the areas we show as most needing the funding
  • be for a not-for-profit group or organisation in England, Scotland or Wales
  • be for a group with a yearly income of £350,000 or less
The programme opens in different in places at different times, and you can only make an application if the programme is open in your area.

For further details on how to apply and to find out if your local programme is currently open, go to our website at People's Health Trust - Apply for Funding and enter your postcode, town or Local Authority.

Medway Council Grant:  Football Foundation – Facilities Grant Scheme

This scheme’s aim is to provide funding to build, develop and/or refurbish facilities to sustain and/or increase participation in football and other sporting activities.

Facilities that can be funded include:

  • the drainage and improvement of grass pitches
  • changing rooms
  • floodlights
  • artificial turf pitches
  • pavilions and clubhouses
Funding is also available for revenue purposes, such as a Football Development Officer.

Schools as well as other educational establishments, local authorities and other not-for-profit organisations are eligible to apply. The foundation will usually fund up to 50 per cent of eligible costs but can in exceptional circumstances fund up to 90 per cent of eligible project costs. Applications can be submitted at any time.

Foyle Foundation Small Grants Scheme

Our Small Grants Scheme is designed to support smaller charities in the UK, especially those working at grass roots and local community level, in any field, across a wide range of activities.  Please note we are not able to support individuals.

Applications are welcomed from charities that have an annual turnover of less than £100,000 per annum.  We plan to make one year grants of between £1,000 and £10,000 to charities which can demonstrate that such a grant will make a significant difference to their work.  Please note that demonstrating ongoing sustainability is important, particularly if you have recently lost Local Authority or other regular funding.  No multi-year funding awards will be made.

There are no deadlines for submission.  Applications will be received at all times, but it may take up to four months to obtain a decision from Trustees, so please apply well in advance of your requirements.

All applications will be acknowledged, usually by email within two weeks of receipt.  If you do not receive an acknowledgement, please contact the Foundation to confirm safe receipt of your request.   All declined applications will also be informed by email.  We will not usually send declination letters.

How to apply:

1.     Applicants should complete the Small Grants Scheme Application Form;
2.     A signed copy of your latest audited or independently examined annual accounts must be supplied

Please send your application to:
