Funder: Quartet Community Foundation – Community Games Grants Programme

Small, local, voluntary and community organisations can apply for grants to bring communities together to take part in sporting and cultural activities inspired by, and in celebration of the London 2012 Olympic and Paralympics Games.  Organisations must:

·         Be prepared to participate in publicity, both locally and nationally, attached to any award received
·         Have charitable aims (although the organisation does not have to be a registered charity
·         Be constituted
·         Have at least two signatories to authorise cheques, if they have their own bank account

The funded event should reflect the Olympic values of excellence, friendship and respect, and the Paralympic values of determination, courage, inspiration and equality.  Events should celebrate the uniqueness of the applicant community.  Some communities may focus on contests to give the event a competitive element, others may want to focus on giving people the opportunity to try something new.  Events should provide an opportunity for everyone in the community to participate.

Funder: South West Foundation – Small Grants

The foundation was set up by the South Western Co-operative Housing Society and was launched in September 2001. the overall aim of the Foundation’s grant programmes is to alleviate poverty and hardship by supporting organisations working with people most in need in the market and coastal towns and rural areas of the South west Region. 

Grants of up to £1,000 are available for funding projects that encourage and enable people to take part in their communities.

Applications may be submitted at any time, but applicants must contact the Foundation to discuss their proposal before an application form can be sent out.

Funder: Jill Franklin Charitable Trust

The Trust makes a small number of small grants of up to £5,000 for organisations working in the following areas:

·         Self-help groups, advice, training and employment, to support people with a mental illness or learning difficulties, and their carers
·         Respite care, and holidays (in the UK only).  Grants for holidays are only given where there is a large element of respite care and only to registered charities, not to individuals
·         Organisations helping and supporting refugees and asylum-seekers
·         The restoration of churches of architectural importance.
