An amazing (free) training opportunity for providers who work with children and young people

There are still a few places on the Geese Theatre workshop on 20 March 2014 at Nailsea Baptist Church, 10am - 4pm. Geese Theatre Company is well known for its interactive theatre and its facilitation of drama-based groupwork, with adults and young people, mainly within the Criminal Justice System. Geese also delivers staff training on:

·         The use of active methods in groupwork
·         Facilitating role-play
·         Working with resistance
·         Working with denial
·         Motivation to change
·         Victim empathy and perspective taking
·         Effective co-working
·         Professional 'masks'

The primary focus of the workshop will be to give participants opportunities to build their confidence in working with drama techniques. No previous drama experience is necessary. Places will be prioritised for North Somerset staff who have shown an interest in co-facilitating the new group for adolescents who are violent or abusive towards their parents (working title: Getting On). However, there will be spaces for other staff who offer groupwork to young people and/or adults who would like to explore innovative and creative ways of working, especially around anger For further details, please look at the Geese website: www.geese.co.uk or speak to Rachel Austin at the Youth Offending Service (rachel.austin@n-somerset.gov.uk) or Kate Wilcox.(kate.wilcox@n-somerset.gov.uk) Please note: to make the most of the day, there will only be a very short lunch break, so you would need bring your lunch with you.

All applications for the workshop are via cpd online ( but please let me know if you're not registered on cpd online and we will sort it out at this end).

Best wishes
