Happy Easter too all PLANS readers!

I hope I find you all well on this Good Friday eve. It has been a very busy couple of weeks here at Castlewood, but Rhi has been busy behind the scenes collating lots of funding opportunities to share with you.

The BBC Children in Need Main Grants programme is open to charities and not-for-profit organisations applying for grants over £10,000 per year for up to three years.

Grant Available: From £10,000

The grants are for organisations working to combat children and young people of 18 years and under experiencing disadvantage through:
·         illness, distress, abuse or neglect,
·         Any kind of disability,
·         Behavioural or psychological difficulties
·         Living in poverty or situations of deprivation

Grant for UK-based educational projects in the fields of the countryside and environment, environmental research and the arts, crafts and architecture.

The Social Innovation Tournament aims to promote innovative ideas in relation to the fight against social exclusion, and to identify and reward projects offering substantial benefits to society, or which demonstrate best practice and are replicable.  Projects can cover a wide range of fields, from education and health care to natural or urban environment, and may involve new technologies, new systems or new processes.

The focus of the programme is for people across England to have improved access to great art visiting their local area, particularly in places that rely on touring for much of their arts provision.

Grants Available: From £10,000

Arts Council England aims to encourage:
  • All of those involved in touring to play an active role in ensuring that high quality art successfully reaches more people and places across England.
  • A positive change in collaborative behaviour between all of those involved in creating and programming work which tours.
  • More effective touring, programming and audience development of high quality work on tour including, in particular, work by and for children and young people, and work by and for people from diverse backgrounds.
  • Promoters, and the communities they serve, given opportunities to influence the kinds of art created to tour, from the beginning of the artistic process.
  • More promoters improving their knowledge and skills in creative commissioning, programming and audience development.
  • Those creating and managing work on tour demonstrating how they have placed the people and venues they tour to at the centre of their work.
·         More people involved in creating and managing work on tour improving their knowledge and skills in touring and audience development.

Support is available in the UK in areas where Tesco has stores.

The Wessex Youth Trust is interested in supporting projects which provide opportunities to help, support and advance children and young people and supports registered charities in the UK that work with young people.

Grant Available: No minimum or maximum level of grant is specified.

Wooden Spoon's objective is to make a positive impact on the lives of disadvantaged children and young people through its commitment to quality charitable work throughout the UK and Ireland.

Grants Available: £10,000 to £100,000

·         Wooden Spoon supports projects which will benefit children and young people who are disadvantaged physically, mentally or socially. 
·         Projects must normally be of a capital nature, with a reasonably long-term prospective lifetime.

Woodland Trust tree packs are now available and are designed to enable groups to plant more trees, woods, copses and hedges in the shared spaces of their local areas.
All you need to do is find a suitable site and supply the volunteer planters and tree protection.

Grants are given to small registered charities in England and Wales for work with elderly people, children and young people aged five to 25 years, people with disabilities or mental health problems, people with a history of offending, addiction or abuse, and education and learning. 

Grant Available: Up to £3,000 per year, up to three years

The Trustees give priority to:
  • Work that is unattractive to the general public or unpopular with other funders.
  • Services that help to improve the lives of marginalised, disadvantaged or isolated people.
  • Applicants that can demonstrate an effective use of volunteers.
  • Charities that seek to be preventive and aim to change opinion and behaviour through raising awareness of issues, education and campaigning.
  • Applicants that can demonstrate (where feasible) an element of self sustainability by charging subscriptions/fees to service users.

Funding is available to support projects in the UK that encourage young people aged 11 to 25 years to take part in activities exploring heritage.

Grant Available: £3,000 to £50,000

The HLF defines heritage as being many different objects and places that have been, and can be, passed on from one generation to another.  Among these are:
  • People's memories and experiences (often recorded as 'oral' or spoken history).
  • Histories of people and communities (including people who have migrated to the UK).
  • Languages and dialects.
  • Cultural traditions such as stories, festivals, crafts, music, dance and costumes.
