Funding and things to do...

Well, it continues to be a very busy period here in the team. All networks are really progressing and the innovation is really showing in the various Positive Activity plans!

I haven't had time to be witty or amusing in this post I am sad to say, so apologies for that!

Funding opportunities

Santander introduces new £250,000 Community Fund (application deadline Friday 12 October). Santander have set up a new community fund for local charities in the South, South West and Wales. The Fund will provide grants of up to £5000 for projects that help disadvantaged people in these areas.

The £250,000 scheme is open to small local charities or local projects of national charities with funding available to cover salaries, equipment or materials. To apply or nominate for one of the grants, visit any Santander branch in the region and complete a Community Fund nomination form. Grants will be awarded in November. They are keen to hear about those small, local charities in the South West where a grant of up to £5,000 could make a real difference to help people in the area. For further information on the fund, contact grants@santander.co.uk

BBC Children In Need Grants have now made the application process more accessible. Take a look to see if your organisation could be eligible.

Ever heard of outdoor table tennis? Sounds strange right? However, if you are interested in enabling something slightly different from the norm to happen in your network area then you may find this useful. There is funding available from ETTA and Sport England to purchase low maintenance, durable concrete table tennis tables. Bristol have recently trailed this and found they were extremely popular. More information here. Please let me know if you would like to see the PDF leaflet.

Exciting event coming up..

The Marlens Festival in Clevedon is fast approaching (this weekend!). The Curzon Cinema will be there with 'Pop-Up Pictures' and will be showcasing local talent and short films. And if that wasn’t enough, at 4pm they will be screening Disney Pixar film 'Up' beneath a beautifully decorated marquee. You can follow 'Pop-Up Pictures' on facebook, Tumbler and Twitter @CurzonReelers.

Don't forget to get in touch if you have something you want to 'shout' about!

Quote of the day

"Inaction breeds doubt and fear. Action breeds confidence and courage. If you want to conquer fear, do not sit home and think about it. Go out and get busy." Dale Carnegie
