Funder:  Halo Initiative
Amount:  3x £100,000 and a number of small grants
Use:

The initiative makes grants for:
·         Work that improves the physical, mental and social wellbeing of women
·         The relief of illness
·         Education and prevention in all areas related to women’s health and illnesses affecting women.
Applications assessed three times a year in January, May and September

Start up costs for a self-help and support group, development applications, e.g. for groups to expand and extend their research for both self help and support and user involvement, combined applications for those that include self help and support and user involvement.

Who can apply:
·         People affected by cancer in groups or individually
·         Other groups, such as voluntary organisations, community interest companies, community groups, social enterprises
·         Health and social care staff, information and support staff in partnership with people affected by cancer
Five times per year.  Round 2 submission deadline 30 April 2014

 Makes grants to voluntary and community organisations in England and Wales to carry out general charitable activities.  Grants have previously been made to national organisations (British Red Cross for example) and local charities.

The Trust makes a small number of grants for:
·         Self-help groups, advice, training and employment to support people with a mental health illness or learning difficulties, and their carers
·         Respite care and holidays (in the UK only).  Grants for holidays are only given where there is a large element of respire care and only to registered charities, not to individuals
·         Organisations helping and supporting refugees and asylum-seekers
·         The restoration of churches of architectural importance.
