Funding update for Friday the 13th.. woooo

Dear PLANS readers

Thank you to all who took the time to complete my survey on the funding bulletin. It will remain open for your input for the remainder of the month Survey link..

Currently 95% of respondents find the information on funding useful.
50% of you would prefer the bulletin to be monthly with 30% preferring to keep it to weekly. If the bulletin does switch to monthly, the only issues I can see is that it will probably be larger than it is now. However, as you can see below I have re-jigged the format and grouped funding opportunities by amounts:
  • £100 to £1000
  • £1000 to £5000
  • £5000 to £10,000
  • £10,000 plus
I would love to hear your feedback on what you think of this format. Look forward to hearing from you! Funding opportunites this week include:

£100 to £1000
  • Mars Milk Fund
£1000 to £5000
  • The Archer Trust
  • Michael Tippett Musical Foundation
£5000 to £10,000
  • Royal Bank of Scotland – Inspiring Youth
£10,000 plus
  • Heritage Lottery Fund – Our Heritage
  • Henry Smith Charity
Have a nice weekend,

Heather

The Archer Trust
The Archer Trust is a UK Christian charitable grant-making trust.

If you meet the following criteria, they may be able to help you: You are a small UK charity for whom a grant of between £250 and £3,000 will make a big difference. In one way or another, you provide aid or support to a defined group of needy or deserving people, for instance those with physical or mental disabilities or the disadvantaged. You are competently run and can support your application with up-to-date accounts.

The Trust prefers to support organisations working in areas of high unemployment and deprivation. They favour charities which make good use of volunteers. The Trust support projects both in the UK and overseas, but for overseas projects only via UK charities which can ensure that funds are being well used.

Applications can be submitted at any time; however replies may take some time because the trustees only meet twice a year, normally in March and September.
Any correspondence should be addressed to the Secretary, The Archer Trust, Bourne House, Wadesmill, Ware, Herts, SG12 0TT.

·         The project’s musical aspirations, recognising that creative projects may take many different styles and forms
·         Projects involving young people, taking place in or out of school, college or in community settings
·         The artistic leadership of the project
·         How the project will be planned

Henry Smith Charity awards grants totalling approximately £25 million each year to up to 1,000 organisations and charities throughout the UK for initiatives and projects that address social inequality and economic disadvantage.

Applications can be made for revenue funding (projects, core costs) and capital expenditure (building, equipment).  Priority is given to work with groups experiencing social and/or economic disadvantage (people with disabilities for example) and to work that tackles problems in areas of high deprivation (those that fall within the bottom third of the National Indices of Deprivation).

  1. Many thanks Heather, the new format is clearer and helpful. I do think PLANS needs to remain weekly to avoid missing or having very tight deadlines. E.g. in this edition, had it been monthly, applications to the Mars Milk Fund, The Archer Trust and Michael Tippett Musical Foundation would all have been effected. Just a thought!
