GUIDANCE FOR SAFER WORKING PRACTICE FOR ADULTS WHO WORK WITH CHILDREN AND YOUNG PEOPLE

With regard to the recent decision by the North Somerset Safeguarding Children Board to agree the use across North Somerset, of the Department of Children Schools and Families commissioned document ‘GUIDANCE FOR SAFER WORKING PRACTICE FOR ADULTS WHO WORK WITH CHILDREN AND YOUNG PEOPLE’ ( Full letter here guidance here) 

In brief, the document has the status of practice guidance and it provides clear advice to employed and volunteer staff on appropriate and safe behaviours when working with children in all settings and in all contexts.

The document supplements but does not replace, any existing professional codes of practice (e.g. General Teaching Council and General Social Care Council codes of conduct, HR policies, general codes of conduct and the Duty of Care).
