Over £16m available to community groups looking to buy buildings and assets valuable to the local community
Community groups can also apply for grants to support them in taking on the ownership of assets to be transferred from public ownership. This includes preparing to bid to buy publicly or privately-owned land and buildings for community use.
Communities will be able to get support to acquire and manage assets such as village shops, pubs, community centres, heritage buildings, allotments and libraries.
Pre-feasibility grants between £5,000 and £10,000 are on offer to help organisations build the internal capacity needed to take ownership of assets. Organisations that can show evidence of plans to take over land or buildings can apply for grants of between £10,000 and £100,000 to help undertake feasibility studies to take on asset ownership and management.

Fareshare South West
Are you a charity or a not-for-profit organisation that supports people? Do you provide food for them and would you like to reduce your food bill?
If so, FareShare South West might be able to help. We are a charity that receives surplus food from food suppliers (e.g. supermarkets, manufacturers and food distribution centres) and redistributes it to organisations that support vulnerable people who cannot afford to eat properly, or whose lifestyle prevents them from doing so. Without good food our health suffers and so life can become even harder.
As well as helping people to eat FareShare South West also helps to reduce the millions of tonnes of food that is wasted by the food industry every year. We are talking about in-date, edible food that, for instance, has been over produced, has battered packaging or is an out-of-date promotion. The food itself is perfectly good to eat but the food industry often just throws it away - until they realise that they can give it to FareShare and we can pass it on to you.

The Peoples Millions is an annual TV competition run by Big Lottery Fund and ITV which awards Lottery funding to community projects that will improve the lives of local people. This year there are four awards of up to £50,000 on offer in each of the 19 ITV regional news areas across the UK.

Anything from youth and environmental projects to schemes that improve employment prospects or help people in need are in with a chance of bagging the Big Lottery Fund cash, provided that entrants can convince their community through a broadcast on ITV regional news that their idea is worthy of the prize.
The competition opens today for entries from voluntary and community groups; local authorities; schools; statutory health bodies and branches of organisations or partnerships. New Deaf Youth Club!
On April 13th The Family Centre (Deaf Children) will be launching a new Deaf Youth Club in central Bristol. This is funded by Bristol City Council as part of their Bristol Youth Links (BYL) project, but is also open to those from surrounding areas.
The club will be for those aged 11-19 (24 with learning difficulties), but the launch is also open to those that will be 11 this year. It will be fully accessible to all deaf young people, whatever their communication method.
We will be running weekly evening sessions during term time, quarterly ½ day Saturday sessions and there will also be a range of summer holiday activities, with a few of them being open to those aged 8-19.
Could you please help us reach as many deaf young people as possible by displaying this poster, including in newsletters/websites/blogs and giving a copy to any deaf young people that you work with. Please forward it on to anyone in your organisation that you know that works with deaf young people.

After eight years and over 11,000 members later we are looking to breathe new life into the Young Person’s Key scheme. Major changes include:
- Extending the age range, 5 – 19 years
- Replacing the annual leaflet with seasonal e-newsletters for two age groups - 5-11 and 12-19 years
- Consulting more with young people on both content and design
- Broadening the content to include information about physical activity and sport sessions, opportunities for young people, interviews, healthy eating information and current discounts that members can access.

The Big Lottery Fund is backing the Green Space ‘Love Parks’ project. A scheme that will support vital green spaces that are at risk of decline due to funding cuts. The project launches during ‘Love Parks week’ and aims to encourage people to organise and attend events during the first week of schools summer holidays (27 July – 4 August 2013). Big Lottery Fund (BIG) is awarding £416,450 to our ‘Love Parks’ project which will see a nationwide network of trained volunteers created to help conserve parks and green spaces up and down the country.

Individuals or groups between the ages of 13 and 25 can apply for, and run, a project to make changes to their communities. However, people of any age can get involved by becoming fans or members of the project in the UK

The Community Film Unit is a social enterprise film company. Through its Speak Up Film Fund, it offers 50% match funding towards the cost of making a film. The Speak Up Film Fund 2013 is open to application from not-for-profit organisations in the UK which need funding support to help make a film about one (or more) of the following:
- Supporting young people and/or vulnerable people.
- Preserving local history and educating residents about their area.

Trusthouse gives grants for running costs or one-off capital costs to charities and not-for-profit organisations in accordance with criteria that are regularly reviewed and decided by the Trustees.
Grant Available: Up to £30,000
The grant committee focus on projects addressing Rural Issues and Urban Deprivation including:
Rural Deprivation
- Projects providing transport for the elderly, disabled or disadvantaged.
- Contact networks for the young disabled.
- Projects which encourage a sense of community such as community centres and village halls.
- Employment training schemes especially those promoting local, traditional crafts.
- Projects addressing issues such as drug/alcohol misuse or homelessness.
Urban Deprivation
Applications are accepted from local or national charities or not-for-profit organisations which are working with residents of urban areas (ie more than 10,000 inhabitants) which are classified in the latest government Indices of Multiple Deprivation as being in the lowest 20%. For example, the Charity is interested in the following:
- Youth clubs.
- Training schemes to help people out of unemployment.
- Drop in centres for the homeless.
